Play ball, Quinn... but look out for snipers in the top row.
In the latest of LH Thomson's mysteries, Liam Quinn's father heads to the Sunshine state to fulfill an old obligation. He won't tell the family what's up. That has Maureen worried, and soon Liam is traipsing through swamps, ducking fastballs and saving pitchers from certain peril. A corrupt owner and his darling daughter aren't making life easier, and a widow wanted the coach dead in the worst way. Things are a little high and outside... when Quinn Plays Ball.

I really like the Liam Quinn mysteries. They get better as the series moves on, and not just because the proofreading seems to be much much better now. The stories are always good, and Liam Quinn is a truly likable character with a sweet wife and a charming family. It's humorous and fun to read.I was very surprised however, to find my old hometown featured in this particular book. Unfortunately it was apparently not researched very well, and was a bit insulting. One, there are no Native American casinos here. Those are in South Florida mostly. Two, virtually no one here calls their mother Maw or their father Poppa. It's generally Mama & Daddy or just Mom & Dad. And no....We aren't smothered in alligators and swamps, though we do have both...they aren't located near the hotels in town, however, so no danger of your luggage being mauled even if you leave the door open. The mosquitos would eat you alive if you left the door open before a gator could get to you anyway. It just seemed like some of the descriptions, such as the clerk at the first hotel, seemed to point to the population here as dumber than dirt with no access to dental care. I'm fairly certain you can find the same kinds of folks in Philly, they just have a different accent and speak a little more quickly, yes?
I know, I get it...poetic license, fiction, etc. but if you use the real name of a town and give its actual location, it would be better to give an accurate picture of it, and to not make it sound like a demented little backwoods Hooterville. And yes I know, we don't have a baseball team here except for the high school teams.
Also, the sideways crack about Florida women coming on to men...really? Was it implying we have no morals or self respect or class? It just came off as a little snarky. You might want to rethink that one. You know us southern ladies have an image to keep up, and it isn't the one you intimated (wink) LOL
Thanks for another good Quinn story. I really do enjoy them, Mr. Thomson.

Quinn Plays Ball A private investigator novel Liam Quinn Mystery Series Book 10 edition by LH Thomson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Great storyline, characters are people I know. Well written with only a few typos.
Awesome read; I love the Quinn series. The interaction with Liam and his dad is priceless. Looking forward to the next book.
Another fun read about Quinn and his family , wife Nora and the craziness that goes with his so called luck !
I'm really enjoying this series and recommend it. It has a steady pace with plenty of humor and honesty. The detective work is interesting right up to the very end.
It was great to read about Liam again. Love the witty dialogue between the characters and the great sense of family. Like all families the good with the bad. Glad that Liam had an adventure with his Dad it was great seeing how well they played off of each other. Please keep the adventures coming LH 👍
Quinn #10 is another entertaining entry in the series. We get to see his dad in action a bit as well as learn some things about his dad's past. Quinn is still a real guy. No super hero stuff. Another evening well spent as far as I'm concerned.
This was a fast, easy read. I liked the witty humor in the writing and look forward to reading more in the series. This was my first Quinn book and I was attracted to it by the alligator on the cover. I would recommend this book to all mystery fans.
